The versatile Joy-Cons offer so many amazing new ways to play and have fun. You can use the two Joy-Cons independently, holding one in each hand, or use them together as if they were a single controller, with the Joy-Con grip. They can also be connected to the console to use it in portable mode, and by giving one to a friend two people can play supported games. Each Joy-Con has a full set of buttons, so it can be considered as an independent controller. Furthermore, each Joy-Con includes an accelerometer and a motion sensor, which allow the controllers to perform independent movements of each other. The versatility allowed by the Joy-Con is preparing to revolutionize the world of video games by offering a variety of combinations of use never seen before!
The left Joy-Con features a capture button that players can press to capture gameplay images to share with friends on social networks. The right Joy-Con includes an NFC sensor that allows you to interact with amiibo, as well as an IR camera that can detect the distance, shape and movements of nearby objects in specially created games. This allows the controller to, for example, measure how far away a player's hand is, and even distinguish between rock, paper and scissors. Both Joy-Cons include an advanced HD rumble function, which can perform much more realistic vibrations than before in compatible games. The effect is so detailed that a player could, for example, feel the vibration of individual ice cubes colliding in a glass when shaking a Joy-Con. The HD rumble guarantees a realism otherwise only achievable with sound and graphics.
With Nintendo Switch, staying connected with other players is easier than ever: up to 8 consoles can connect wirelessly to each other locally. Players can place the console anywhere thanks to its integrated stand, and then share the Joy-Cons to have fun together even away from the TV. The console supports multiplayer gaming via Wi-Fi, now even more stable thanks to the LAN port integrated into the OLED model Nintendo Switch base. Online play is available upon subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service, which includes, in addition to online play, NES and Super NES classics, trial games and much more. With the Nintendo Switch Online smart device app, you can also invite friends to play online, schedule playdates, and chat while playing compatible titles.
